Young, Frederick Lorenzo Fisher, thePeerage.com. Frederick Lorenzo Fisher Young was born on 27 January 1846 on Pitcairn Island. He was the son of Simon Young and Mary Buffett Christian. He died on 24 August 1864 at age 18 on Santa Cruz Island, Solomon Islands, wounded by arrows in an uprising and died of lockjaw. He was buried at Port Petterson, Solomon Islands. Frederick was a mission worker. He was serving with George Nobbs and Bishop Patteson at the Melanesian Mission in 1864 at Santa Cruz Island, Solomon Islands.

Young, Fuccia Maria Marigold, Lareau; thePeerage.com. Fuccia Maria Marigold Young was born on Pitcairn Island on May 1, 1919. She was the daughter of Alonzo Orville H. Young and Lura Constance Warren. She was buried on August 21, 1923, on Pitcairn Island, having died of dysentary.

Young, George, Snell, thePeerage.com. George Young was born circa 1797 on Pitcairn Island. He was the son of Edward Young and Toofaiti (?). He married Hannah Adams, daughter of John Adams and Vahineatua (?), in 1821 on Pitcairn Island. He died on 4 May 1831 in Tahiti. The children of George Young and Hannah Adams were George Martin Frederick Young, born 1822, died 25 September 1899; Simon Young, born 11 August 1823, died 26 September 1893; Dinah Young, born 16 November 1824, died 9 May 1881; Elizabeth Young, born 8 September 1826, died 10 October 1863; Jemima Young, born 31 October 1828, died 5 May 1868; and Martha Young, born 19 January 1830, died 30 January 1872.

Young, George Martin Frederick, Snell. George Martin Frederick Young was born on Pitcairn Island in 1822. He was the son of George Young and Hannah Adams. On Pitcairn Island on December 25, 1849, he married Mary Evans, the daughter of John Evans and Rachael Adams. Their children were Robert Charles Grant Young, born on September 18, 1850, on Pitcairn, and died on Norfolk Island on May 2, 1860; John Forrester Young, Emily Rachel Young, Frederick Young, born October 4, 1856, and died March 19, 1860; William Alfred Denison Young, born April 22, 1858; Frederick Richmond Young, Mary Catherine Young, George Henry Young, born October 1, 1864, and died March 23, 1896; Ellen Young, born November 10, 1866; Charlotte Young, born August 29, 1869, and died December 11, 1878; Eleanor Bathie Young; Robert Young, born September 10, 1876, and died September 18, 1876; Robert Young, born in 1877, and died May 9, 1912; and Charles Young, born July 20, 1878, and died February 9, 1887. George Martin Frederick Young died June 1, 1909, on Norfolk Island.

Young, George Tomlin, Lareau; thePeerage.com. George Tomlin Young was born on Pitcairn Island on November 12, 1862. He was the son of Moses Young and Albina McCoy. As a 13-year-old, George was drowned while trying to recover something that had been washed ashore from the wreck of the ship 'Cornwallis.' He died at the age of 12, on January 23, 1875.

Young, Gladys Christine, Lareau; thePeerage.com. Gladys Christine Young was born on 29 November 1904 on Pitcairn Island. She was the daughter of Arthur Herbert Young and Adella Schmidt. She died on 9 April 1939 at age 32 at Corowa, Victoria, Australia. Gladys was a nurse and she and Gresham Gerard Whitbourn had two children, Evelyn May Whitbourn and Gresham Ford Whitbourn.

Young, Glenda Lynda Marian, Lareau; thePeerage.com. Glenda Lynda Marian Young was born on Pitcairn Island on August 14, 1953. She is the daughter of Henry Hugh Young and Florence Beck. The children of Glenda and David Cheshire are Samantha Cheshire and Kim Cheshire.

Young, Grant Aubrey, Lareau; thePeerage.com. Grant Aubrey Young was born on Pitcairn Island on October 16, 1909. He was the son of Edwin Carlton Young and Vesta Annesly Young. He married Inez Warren, daughter of James Sanford Warren and Ellen Catherine Young, on Pitcairn Island. (For the child of Grant and Inez Warren, see "Inez Warren").

Young, Harry Albert, Lareau; thePeerage.com. Harry Albert Young was born on Pitcairn Island on April 17, 1899. He was the son of Henry Christian and Sarah Nettie McCoy. He died on June 23, 1984, at the age of 85, on Pitcairn Island.

Young, Helena Beatrice, Australasian Record 38, Mar. 26, 1934, p. 6; thePeerage.com. Helena Beatrice Young was born on Pitcairn Island on October 22, 1864. She was the daughter of William Mayhew Young and Margaret Christian. She died in Cape Town, South Africa, January 3, 1934.

Young, Helena Valerie, Australasian Record 51, Sept. 22, 1947, p. 7; thePeerage.com. Helena Valerie Young was born on Pitcairn Island on January 6, 1937. She is the daughter of Grant Aubrey Young and Inez Warren. Having died of tetanus, she was buried on July 19, 1947, on Pitcairn Island.

Young, Henry Hugh, Australasian Record 90, August 24, 1985, p. 15; Snell; Lareau, thePeerage.com. Henry Hugh Young was born on Pitcairn Island on January 17, 1909. His parents were Norris Henry Young and Marian Elmira Christian. He died some time after 1973. In 1972, Henry was defeated for Chair of the Pitcairn Internal Committee in the annual election by Cairn Melvin Christian. The children of Henry and Florence Beck were Norris Joseph Young, born in 1950; Glenda Lynda Marian Young, born August 14, 1953; Edwin Donald Young, born April 19, 1955; Allison Fay Young, born February 27, 1966; and Pamela Helen Dawn Young, born July 10, 1968.

She died on April 9, 1963, at age 78. Mercy was a twin. She was buried in Tahiti. The children of Ida and Charles Lintz were John Lintz, Gudelia Lintz, Henriette Lintz, Edwig Theodore Lintz, and Huguette Lintz. Young Ivy Edna, thePeerage.com. Ivy Edna Young was born on Pitcairn Island on May 6, 1897. She was the daughter of William Alfred Young and Mercy Amelia Lawrence Young. In 1921 she married Frederick Warren Brown on Pitcairn Island. She died of tuberculosis on May 14, 1943, at the age of 46 on Pitcairn Island. Her married name became Brown. The children of Ivy Edna Young and Frederick Warren Brown were Walter Nelson Brown, born in 1921, and died on September 20, 1923; Walter Hiram Brown, who was born on August 16, 1924; Len Carlyle Brown, who was born on March 30, 1926; Royal Louise Brown, who was born on March 14, 1928; and Mavis Mary Brown, who was born on August 18, 1936.

Young, James Vincent Louis, Lareau; thePeerage.com. James Vincent Louis Young was born on Pitcairn Island on January 13, 1890. He was the son of William Henry Childers Young and Nettie Young (?). He was buried on January 11, 1904, on Pitcairn Island.

Young, Jeanette Baldwin, thePeerage.com.; Australasian Record 29, Jan. 5, 1925, p. 7. Jeanette Baldwin Young was born on Pitcairn Island on May 15, 1893. She was the daughter of Charles Carleton Vieder Young and Alice Helena Christian. She married Theodore Alwyn Young, son of William Alfred Young and Mercy Amelia Lawrence Young, on Pitcairn Island. She died circa November 1924, from pneumonia. She was buried on November 20, 1924, on Pitcairn Island. (For the children of Jeanette and Theodore Alwyn Young, see "Theodore Alwyn Young").

Young, Jemima, Lareau; thePeerage.com. Jemima Young was born on Pitcairn Island on October 31, 1828. She was the daughter of George Young and Hannah Adams. She died on May 5, 1868, at age 39, on Norfolk Island. She did not marry. In 1849 when Captain Wood of the Pandora arrived bringing John Buffett the cliff to the town (Adamstown). Jemima readily volunteered, and was described by Wood as "a stout, good-natured girl, who seized my arm and almost carried me up without the aid of my feet, and this with no apparent effort on her part." She was among the women who invited Admiral Moresby to visit Pitcairn in 1851. When he arrived, according to Moresby, "she was a fine girl, very stout, not pretty, but with an amiable face. She made me her property because, before coming here, I had written her a note. Then she introduced me to all the girls."

Young, Jessie Lurita, Lareau; thePeerage.com. Jessie Lurita Young was born on Pitcairn Island in 1915. She was the daughter of Walter Fisher Percival Young and Rita Stella McCoy. She married Oliver Bryon Clark, son of Lincoln Clark and Augusta Ruth Lena Christian on Pitcairn Island. Her married name became Clark. The children of Jessie and Oliver Bryon Clark were Zeta Reba Clark, born October 8, 1932; Ernest Denis Clark, born April 30, 1937; and Roger Paul Clark, born August 20, 1946.

Young, John Forrester, Lareau; thePeerage.com. John Forrester Young was born on Pitcairn Island on June 13, 1852. He was the son of George Martin Frederick Young and Mary Evans. He married Eliza Louisa Nobbs, daughter of Fletcher Christian Nobbs and Susan Quintal, on April 19, 1876, on Norfolk Island. He died on November 17, 1913, at age 61, on Norfolk Island. John held the office of President of the Norfolk Council of Elders between 1900 and 1903. He was among the second wave of returnees from Norfolk Island to Pitcairn Island in 1864, but he did not remain there, returning to Norfolk to marry and settle. The children of John and Eliza Louisa Nobbs were Charles Rupert Young, Sarah Nobbs Young, Rupert Young, Olivia Young, Mary Young, Amy Young, John Waldy Young, Susan Catherine Young, George Henry Young, and Emily Irene Young.

Young John Lorenzo, thePeerage.com. John Lorenzo Young was born on 6 August 1869 on Pitcairn Island. He was the son of Simon Young and Mary Buffett Christian. He died on 14 October 1893 at the age of 24 on Pitcairn Island. John died in the typhus epidemic that struck Pitcairn Island in 1893.

Young, Katie, Australasian Record 58, Jul 5, 1954, p. 7. "YOUNG - On May 17, 1954, while going about her daily toil, Katie, beloved wife of Andrew Young, was stricken down, and in a few minutes her life had ebbed away. Her passing is a great blow to the home, and also to the community of Pitcairn. She was a gentle, loving wife and mother, and lived a quiet constant Christian life. She leaves a husband, two sons, a daughter, several grandchildren, and brothers and sisters to mourn her passing. Words of comfort were spoken by our church elders in the church and in the little cemetery by the sea. R. Ferris."

Young, Kerry. Kerry Young, also known as Curry, is the son of Clarence and Pat Young.

Young, Kevin Brian, Lareau; thePeerage.com. Kevin Brian Young was born on Pitcairn Island on March 24, 1954. He is the son of Clarence Robert Young and Patricia Dorothy Myrtle Wynn. Kevin married Carolyn (?).

Young, Laura Moreland, Snell. Laura Moreland Young was born on Pitcairn Island on June 30, 1881. She was the daughter of George Edwin Selwyn Young and Sarah Grace Young. At Surrey Hills, Sydney, Australia, Laura married John T. Edmunds. Their children were Dulcie Faith(?) Edmunds, Maeve Grace Edmunds, and Merle Hope Moreland Edmunds.

Young, Laurie Don Louis, Lareau; thePeerage.com. Laurie Don Louis Young was born on Pitcairn Island on August 4, 1957. She is the daughter of Desmond Earl Christian and Ailsa Violet Ruby Young.

He married Nancy Selina Wiskovich in New Zealand. The children of Leon and Nancy Selina Wiskovich are Denise Young, Dennis Lee Young, Carol Ann Young, and Stephen Radcliff Young.

"It is with deep regret that we record the death of Lila Adelia Young, who passed away suddenly at the residence of Ivan and Dobrey on the morning of September 5, 1977, aged 77 years. The funeral service was held in the church on Tuesday, 6th September at 7:30 a.m.. This was conducted by Pastor Ferguson. To her three sons and grandchildren in New Zealand and Pitcairn Island we offer our sympathy. - Irma Christian."

Young, Lillian Christine, Pitcairn Miscellany 18, March 1967, p. 3; Lareau; thePeerage.com. Lillian Christine Young was born on Pitcairn Island on March 16, 1912. She was the daughter of Alonzo Orville H. Young and Lura Constance Warren. She married Vernon Stanley Young, son of David Andrew Stanley Young and Catherine Edith Warren, on Pitcairn Island. The child of Lillian and Vernon Stanley Young was Margaret Young.

Young, Louisa, Australasian Record 61, Jan. 7, 1957, p. 15. See also Pitcairn Pilhi 1, Sept 6, 1956, p. 2. Her full name was Mary Louise Rose Young. "YOUNG - Two recent deaths on Pitcairn Island brought great sorrow to the little community of believers here. On the 15th of August, Mrs. Louisa Young gently closed her eyes after a full life of seventy-six years. October 27 marked the passing of another of our aged sisters. Mrs. Stella Young, ages sixty0seven, left us to await the call of the One she loved so well. In a community such as ours, these partings are keenly felt by all. - L. Hawkes."

Young, Lurena (?), thePeerage.com. Lurena (?) married Austin Auburn Young, son of Theodore Alwyn Young and Jeanette Baldwin Young, on Pitcairn Island. Her married name was Young. The child of Lurena (?) and Austin Auburn Young is Cyril Claud Young, who was born on May 17, 1944.

Lucille Cena Young, Pitcairn Miscellany, Vol 58, No. 11, Nov. 2015. Lucille Cena Young was born on December 26, 1938, on Pitcairn Island to Dobrey and Ivan Christian, and was raised by her maternal grandparents, Katie and Andrew Young. Almost 20 years later, she left Pitcairn to start a new life in New Zealand. She met and married Philip O’Brien, with whom she had four daughters, Leeanne, Janet, Sharon, and Cheryl. It would be more than 50 years before she returned to visit her homeland, in 2013. Cena died on Novenmber 16, 2015, in New Zealand, after an extended illness. She is survived by her brother Steve, of Pitcairn; sister, Brenda, also of Pitcairn; husband Philip; their daughters and their partners; and four grandchildren, all of New Zealand.

Young, Lydia, thePeerage.com. Lydia Young was born on Pitcairn Island on September 16, 1832. She was the daughter of William Young and Elizabeth Mills. She married, firstly, Daniel McCoy, son of Daniel McCoy and Sarah Quintal, on March 24, 1850, on Pitcairn Island. After Daniel's death she married Robert Pitcairn Buffett, son of John Buffett and Dorothy Young on December 7, 1862 on Norfolk Island. She was buried on July 30, 1883, on Pitcairn Island, having succumbed to asthma and dropsy. From March 24, 1850, her married named became McCoy. From December 7, 1862, her married name became Buffett. She was among the second wave of returnees from Norfolk Island to Pitcairn Island in 1864.

Young, Margaret Augusta, Lareau; thePeerage.com. Margaret Augusta Young was born on Pitcairn Island on Jul. 26, 1867. She was the daughter of William Mayhew Young and Margaret Christian. She married Samuel Henry Salmon Young, son of Moses Young and Albina McCoy, on Pitcairn Island. She died circa August 1946. She was buried on 13 August 1946, on Pitcairn Island. The child of Margaret and Bert James Christian was Norris Henry Young, born on August 15, 1887, and died February 10, 1974.

Young, Margaret Eliza, Australasian Record 59, Oct. 3, 1955, p. 15. She died in Australia. (See "Margaret Eliza McCoy"). "YOUNG - At the age of eighty- three years, Sister Margaret Eliza Young of Pitcairn Island fell asleep in Jesus on July 8, 1955, and was laid to rest next to her husband, Samuel Young in the South Brisbane cemetery. Brother and Sister Young arrived in Australia from Pitcairn in 1912 and Brother Young predeceased his wife by nineteen years. Sister Young was always cheerful despite her age and illness, and we miss a real mother in Israel. Our sympathies are with her sorrowing son Clarence and family, her daughter, Sister Brunt of Mackay, and her sister, Miss McCoy. Pastor O. W. Knight, assisted by the writer, officiated at the funeral services. - S. W. Carr."

Young, Margaret Lucy, Lareau; thePeerage.com. Margaret Lucy Young was born on Pitcairn Island on October 31, 1874. She was the daughter of Benjamin Stanley Young and Rebecca Holman Ascension McCoy. She married Edward Christian, son of Elias Christian and Mary Elizabeth Young, on Pitcairn Island. She died on April 11, 1958, at age 83, on Pitcairn Island. Her married name became Christian. (For the children of Margaret and Edward Christian, see "Edward Christian"). The child of Margaret and Matthew Edmond McCoy was Raymond Virgil Christian, born June 23, 1893, and died August 8, 1962.

Young, Maria, Seventh-day Adventist Review & Herald 112, Feb. 7, 1935, p. 35, carries an obituary for Edwards, Maria Young. She was born on Pitcairn Island in 1861. She died Oct. 13, 1934, at Nukualofa, Tongan Islands. She was a cousin of Rosalind Amelia Young-Nield, and served as a Seventh-day Adventist medical missionary in Tonga for about 39 years. Maria traveled on the Adventist missionary ship Pitcairn to Tonga and there became a nurse midwife to Queen Salote, and delivered the royal princes and princesses. The queen preferred her attendance to that of a visiting doctor. The waiting doctor was informed that the child had already been delivered by the queen's half-caste nurse. Maria was married to a British man named Charles Edwards. They had two children, a boy and a girl. Maria was much beloved by the Tongan community. She is buried in Nukualofa, and has many descendants both in Tonga and in New Zealand.

Young, Marian Edith, Lareau; thePeerage.com. Marian Edith Young was born on Pitcairn Island on June 21, 1877. She was the daughter of Benjamin Stanley Young and Rebecca Holman Ascension McCoy. She married Thornton Gilbert Christian, son of Phillip Howland Christian and Gertrude Eliza Warren, on April 6, 1910, on Pitcairn Island. She died on July 15, 1966, at age 89, on Pitcairn Island. The child of Marian and Matthew Edmond McCoy was Vincent Young, born October 3, 1899. (For the children of Marian and Thornton Gilbert Christian, see "Thornton Gilbert Christian").

Young, Marian Elmira, Lareau; thePeerage.com. Marian Elmira Christian was born on Pitcairn Island on May 13, 1891. She was the daughter of Edward Christian and Margaret Lucy Young. She married Norris Henry Young, son of Bert James Christian and Margaret Augusta Young, in January 1910, on Pitcairn Island. She died on June 25, 1984, at age 93, in New Zealand. Marian Elmira Christian also went by the nick-name of Myra. From January 1910, her married name became Young. The children of Marian and Norris Henry Young were Henry Hugh Young, born January 17, 1909, and died about 1973; and Everett Carlyle Young who was born on June 3, 1910.

Young, Marion Emily Daisy, Lareau; thePeerage.com. Marion Emily Daisy Young was born on Pitcairn Island on April 9, 1891. She was the daughter of Samuel H. S. Young and Margaret Eliza McCoy. She died in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Marion was a twin.

Young, Marona Estelle, Lareau, thePeerage.com. Marona Estelle Young was born on Pitcairn Island on May 24, 1936. She is the daughter of Wilkson Carlson Young and Marjorie Estelle Christian. She married Pervis Ferris Young, son of Andrew Clarence David Young and Catherine Almira Warren, on Pitcairn Island. Marona truly loved Pitcairn, and resisted leaving the island for many years, although all of her immediate family moved to New Zealand. She and her husband did eventually go there to live. The children of Marona and Pervis Ferris Young were Daryl Patrick Irving Young, who was born on October 17, 1955; Tony Larry Young, who was born in 1957, and died August 11, 1957; and Jannett Sandra Young, who was born on August 28, 1959. Marona died in Melbourne, Australia, on January 23, 2013. At a typical Pitcairn service at which the islanders' old favorite songs were sung – "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," "In the Sweet Bye and Bye," "Cling to the Bible my Boy," and the Pitcairn "Goodbye Song," Marona was buried in New Zealand alongside the grave of her husband Pervis.

Young, Martha, Lareau; thePeerage.com. Martha Young was born on Pitcairn Island on January 19, 1830. She was the daughter of George Young and Hannah Adams. She married David Buffett, son of John Buffett and Dorothy Young, on January 28, 1851, on Pitcairn Island. She died on January 30, 1872, at age 42, on Norfolk Island. In August 1847, she wrote a series of letters to Captain Charles Hope in behalf of the children of Pitcairn (she was 17 at the time). They sought Captain Hope's patronage to obtain formal induction of Reverend George Nobbs as Pastor (letter in the Mitchell Library, Sydney, Australia). Young, Mary Ann, thePeerage.com. Mary Ann Young was born on Pitcairn Island on June 5, 1855. She was the daughter of Simon Young and Mary Buffett Christian. She married Albert John Volk (1857-1917) on September 8, 1881, on Pitcairn Island. He was born in Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales. She was among the second wave of returnees from Norfolk to Pitcairn in 1864. She died on April 18, 1887, at age 31 at Cardiganshire, Wales, from consumption. Albert and Mary Ann had two sons: Ernest Percy, born 1883 on Pitcairn, and Walter, born 1885 on Pitcairn. Mary Ann Young was a sister to Rosalind Amelia Young-Nield.

Young, Mary Dora, Lareau; thePeerage.com. Mary Dora Young was born on Pitcairn Island in 1873. She married Elliott Archibald Warren, son of James Sanford Warren and Ellen Catherine Young, on November 16, 1909, on Pitcairn Island. From November 16, 1909, her married name became Warren. (For the children of Mary Dora and Elliott Archibald Warren, see "Elliott Archibald Warren").

Young, Mary Elizabeth, thePeerage.com. Mary Elizabeth Young was born on Pitcairn Island on January 16, 1849. She was the daughter of Moses Young and Albina McCoy. She first married Elias Christian, son of Thursday October Christian and Mary Young, on December 25, 1864 on Pitcairn Island. Later she married Robert Pitcairn Buffett, son of John Buffett and Dorothy Young, in September 1896. She died on February 18, 1908 at age 59 on Pitcairn Island from consumption and a long tumor after a six-month illness. He had eight children. He was the driver of the public tractor on Pitcairn Island, and was maintenance engineer in 1972, responsible for the lighting plant. A childhood accident cost him the sight in one eye. After education on the Island, Norris spent nine months in Fiji, and a year and a half in New Zealand, acquiring mechanical skills.
